The Alaska State Parks and Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge have several public use cabins that are available for rent. If tent camping is more your style, we can help find the right destination for your camping adventure. The Laura Lake cabin is about a 20 minute flight from Kodiak, in the heart of Afognak Island, just east of Perenosa Bay and south of Paul's Bay. The cabin is located among the dense spruce trees on the shore of Laura Lake. The area is surrounded by dense spruce forests and rolling hills. There are no developed trails, and it is easy to become disoriented.
Fishing is good for salmon and trout in August and September. It is recommended to bring an inflatable boat and motor to open up access to the entire lake. |

 Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
Kodiak Refuge is an ideal destination for wildlife viewing, hunting, hiking, kayaking, fishing, camping, and other types of outdoor adventures. Getting to the refuge is not as simple as jumping into a car or strapping on a pair of hiking boots. The refuge covers 1.9 million acres on Kodiak, Uganik, Ban, and Afognak islands, areas only accessible by floatplane or boat. The refuge currently maintains seven public use cabins, each available on a reservation basis.
